Final Project :: Step One
Develop a creative brief and site map for your personal portfolio Web site.

Assignment ::
In Step One, we'll be creating the documents that will guide the building of your portfolio Web site.

For Step One, due at the beginning of class on February 3rd, write a creative brief and develop a site map for your portfolio site. The goal is to communicate clearly to the client (you) what you as the web designer view their needs as being, and explain how you will satisfy these needs. A blank client questionnaire is available (33 KB PDF document) to help with the creative brief but is not required. In addition, information about creative briefs can be found in this handout (22 KB PDF document).

Creative Brief: With yourself in the role of both client and web designer, write a creative brief for your portfolio site. The creative brief should be a formal document that contains the following information:

  • Client name and primary contact information
  • Project Title
  • Web design firm name and author
  • Client Background
  • Mission and Positioning (of the client, not the project)
  • Goals and Objectives (of the project, not the client)
  • Target Audience
  • Requirements (technical, graphical, required content)

The Creative Brief must be done in HTML using Dreamweaver. The artistic design of your creative brief will not be graded. However, the legibility and clarity of your text formatting will be evaluated.

Site Map: The site map should represent your take on how best to organize the information in the site. Site maps should show the primary navigation areas and all secondary pages. You can create your site map using the illustration program and style of your choice. Clarity of information is important when designing this document.

Requirements ::
Creative Brief: All creative brief components are included and addressed, text accurately communicates client's needs, copy is clearly formatted, spelling is correct, document created in HTML and provided digitally to the instructor. (20 points)

Site Map: All necessary site map components are provided, accurately communicates client's content needs, demonstrates clarity of visual design, spelling is correct, document provided digitally to the instructor. (20 points)
