Poster Collage Project

Assignment ::
Using the skills and techniques learned in class, create in Photoshop a poster collage promoting the subject of your CD Artwork project. You can promote the CD itself, an upcoming concert, or other event related to the CD and artist.

Specifications ::
Use the following specs when creating your poster collage:

  • Document size: 10" wide by 14" tall
  • Document resolution: 100 pixels per inch
  • Color mode: RGB
  • File Format: Photoshop (.psd)

Requirements ::
The artwork must contain the following components:

  • An original photograph or drawing that you've scanned into the computer (be sure to keep the original scan to turn in).
  • An art element of your own creation imported from Illustrator.
  • One other photo or drawing, which can be a scan, stock photograph from a CD, digital photograph, or an image downloaded from the Internet.
  • Type created in Photoshop: Use a minimum of ten words, but do not exceed thirty words.
  • Your name as a credit (this can be very small, if you want).

You will need to turn in your layered Photoshop file (named your_name.psd) with all of the art elements described above occupying their own layer. Be sure to name your layers appropriately (example: Original photograph or Illustrator art element). Do not flatten your artwork file.

Feel free to use artwork created in the first project or any additional artwork in the poster collage. The list above is what at a minimum the collage should contain. Do not feel limited to using only the required components.

A full-size color print of your poster is due on Week 09.

Artwork must be created in Photoshop using skills learned both in class and from the reading assignments. The design should meet the criteria listed above, and be thoughtful of layout, style, and coloration. The Photoshop document will also be graded on organization and technical correctness.

Dates and Deliverables ::
At the beginning of class on Week 09 (March 10th), both a full-size color print of your artwork and the layered Photoshop file are due.

For the final day of class (Week 11; March 24th), the completed poster should be printed out at full-size in color, trimmed, mounted on black artboard, and shown in class. You will also need to turn in your final, layered Photoshop file.

Both dates must be met to receive credit for this project. (100 points)
